Villamoura Is Golf And Much More

Villamoura Portugal or as some write it Vilamoura, is a golf course ( Valderrama )designed by the golf champion Frank Pennik, which forms part of a tourist resort of over 1,600 acres. It is as if it were a town in itself, including all kinds of sporting activities, villas for rent surrounding the golf course, a marina, and even a fun nightlife which includes a casino for the daring. The hotel has high quality accommodation with exquisite furniture and decoration and the cuisine is extraordinary.

To the east of the coastal town of the Albufeira, there are five other golf courses, each one better than the other in one aspect or another. The golf course Quinta do Lobo caters to those who wish to do a 27 hole day or the Vale do Lobo if the others do not suit their fancy. And to the west of Albufeira, the Penina Golf Course which was designed by the three time Open British champion Henry Cotton. For those not familiar with the south or Algarve region of Portugal, it has grown considerably thanks to the influx of tourist and over 130.000 golfers alone visit the Algarve every year and many have enjoyed Villamoura.

Algarve and its magical allurement

If you are to the east of the town of Albufeira, then do not hesitate to continue on to do sightseeing in Lagos. It is thought to have been founded by a Carthaginian petty chief, but later conquered by the Romans in the 5th c. calling it Laccobriga or Fortified Lake. The Arabs conquered it in the 8th c. calling it Zawaia or just Lake. But Lagos has a dark past because it was here that the first black slave market was held. Portugal imported slaves from Senegal and Guinea. From Lagos you have access to many of the other coastal beaches such Salema or Figueira. Try to rent a boat from a local fisherman who will be more than willing to explore the caverns with their natural skylights, giving off the effect of an enormous cathedral.

Can you imagine what kind of accommodations are available for your holidays. All kinds of spacious villas with private swimming pools, barbecue area and many with fantastic ocean views. Or rural homes which have been renovated with the pure Portuguese country style and offering home cooked meals. But if extravagance is within your budget, then there are palaces which have been made into hotels without losing any of their epic charm, serving the most elaborated seafood dishes and the best wines. All this and more awaits you at Villamoura Portugal and its surrounding towns.
